Music with Mandy and the Tri-Tone Rhythm Ensemble have teamed up to present a one-of-a-kind performance of the featuring music from Mandy’s debut album, “On the Sunny Side of the Street”, which was released in September 2018 and Tasha Lawson’s award winning choreography. Tap and jazz are a natural pair, both based on the same form and improvisation. When Mandy and Tasha, founder of the Tri-Tone Rhythm Ensemble, met last year, they immediately connected over a passion for making arts accessible for Calgary families. With similar mandates that promote community development through collaboration it was only natural that the groups team up to perform. This family friendly show is aimed at pre-school and elementary aged children designed to not only entertain but engage children in an interactive performance enjoyable for all generations.

The Tri-Tone Rhythm Ensemble provides world class training and performance experiences for the Calgary community and abroad. The ensemble promotes the history, tradition and art of tap dance through the preservation of historical works and in the creation of new repertoire. Tri-Tone artists collaborate with tap masters, body percussionists, movement artists and musicians from around the world. They have performed on prestigious stages and festivals across North America including The National Music Centre, The New York City Tap Festival and The Vancouver International Tap Festival.

Music with Mandy has been inspiring the next generation of jazz fans since it’s inception in August 2017. Mandy Morris uses her training as a jazz vocalist combined with her experience as a music and early childhood educator to entertain children and their families while simultaneously (and sneakily) educating them on jazz form, history, instrumentation and creation. She has played for many packed houses in Alberta and Manitoba at venues like The National Music Centre, Calgary Public Library for JazzYYC’s International Jazz Day and the Medicine Hat Public Library.
